a note from anne

My name is Anne Barnhoorn, President of Danko Foods Inc. since October 2022. 

I was born in United Kingdom, growing up in a small town called Gateshead, the bigger city known as Newcastle Upon Tyne, 100 miles below the Scottish border. 

I left England 1992 at the age of 27 years old, and moved to California,  Orange County on my own, to hopefully live the “American Dream” . Thankfully after much hard work, it became a reality.  Finding a career, that involved the importing of European fresh wild-caught fish, Dover sole, Turbot, Monktail, Rouget, Loup de Mer, some of my favorite fish, which I grew up eating as a child, I would once again be able to indulge and bring to my dining table these delicious fish, with a bonus allowed to progress into a career of importing and selling the fabulous European fresh wild-caught fish, also, mushrooms, fine poultry & game to the high end /Michelin Star restaurants across the USA.  

 I’ve been with Danko Foods for 23 years, starting as an office assistant to the President of Danko Foods. Throughout the years, my responsibilities very quickly increased, working my way to eventually becoming Director of Operations. 

Danko Foods Inc, had been in business for over 30 yrs,  when  owner decided it was time to retire, “dock the boat” and find a new captain to steer this boat! I  was given the fantastic opportunity in October 2022 to purchase the company, and I immediately jumped on board! 

I love my life here, I have one amazing son, who is 25 yrs old, who makes me super proud. I’m so grateful for my family here, friends, career, &  dog.  Whenever I have spare time, I am out enjoying the beauty of Southern CA .  I love to travel, and I visit  UK/Europe regularly, to visit family and check in with my purveyors.
